Mixing is where your track comes to life. But how do you know if your song is truly ready for that stage?
Your song is ready to be mixed if:
- You’ve recorded clean takes with minimal noise or clipping
- You’ve made solid arrangement decisions and committed to them
- The song has a clear emotional arc or dynamic flow
- You’ve done basic editing: comping, timing, and tuning where needed
- You have a rough mix that communicates the general direction
Your song may NOT be ready if:
- You’re still deciding between takes
- You haven’t exported stems yet
- You’re unsure what the sonic direction should be
