Hear The Ideas Become Records
Every production begins somewhere different.
These comparisons show how the original identity of each song was preserved, expanded and brought into focus.
WHY ARTISTS CHOOSE STUDIO CHADDY
A Record That Sounds Like You, Fully Realised
You may already have the songs, references and a strong sense of where the project belongs. But describing a feeling is not the same as turning it into an arrangement, performance and sonic world.
That is where I come in.
As an indie folk producer and multi-instrumentalist, I help translate the ideas in your head into musical decisions. That might mean finding the instrumental texture that unlocks a lyric, reshaping an arrangement around its emotional centre or knowing when a production needs more detail and when it needs less.
Because I can move between arrangement, guitar, bass, drums, keys, recording and mixing, the original intention stays connected throughout the process. We can follow ideas while they are alive, make decisions in context and build a record that feels cohesive rather than assembled.
The result is not simply a more polished version of the demo. It is a record that sounds more distinctly like the artist you are becoming.
WHO THIS IS FOR
This May Be The Right Fit If…
✸ You have released music before and are ready to take your next single, EP or album further. ✸
✸ You have a developing artistic identity and want a producer who can understand, challenge and strengthen it. ✸
✸ You care about lyrics, arrangement, texture and the emotional world surrounding a song. ✸
✸ You want a close creative partnership rather than a series of disconnected production services. ✸
✸ You are drawn to the detail, honesty and sonic character found in records by artists such as Bon Iver, Big Thief, Phoebe Bridgers, Gregory Alan Isakov and Novo Amor. ✸
✸ You are prepared to invest in a professionally produced release and participate meaningfully in the creative process. ✸
This Is Probably Not The Right Fit If…
✸ You are mainly looking for the cheapest way to release a song. ✸
✸ You want your demo reproduced exactly without creative exploration. ✸
✸ You are looking for a producer to make every decision without your involvement. ✸
✸ You are not yet committed to releasing or developing the project. ✸
THE PROCESS
One Creative Thread From First Conversation To Final Master
1. Direction
We begin with the songs, the world around them and where this project sits within your wider body of work. We will discuss references, lyrics, artistic identity and what needs to evolve from anything you have released before.
2. Pre-Production
We find the emotional centre of each song and establish the arrangement, instrumentation and sonic language of the project before committing to the final production.
Across a multi-song project, we will also develop the recurring textures and production choices that make the record feel like one complete body of work.
3. Production & Recording
We build the record collaboratively, moving between performance, arrangement and sound as the songs develop. Ideas can be explored in context rather than passed between separate stages and specialists.
4. Mixing & Mastering
I carry the same creative direction through the mix and master, refining the detail, impact and cohesion of the finished project until it is ready for release.

I take on a limited number of production projects at a time so each artist has the attention, preparation and creative involvement their record requires.

Yes. Multi-song projects are a major focus of my work. Before production begins, we will establish the sonic world of the project and identify the recurring choices that will make the songs feel connected without making them sound identical.
This is a collaborative process. You bring the songs, perspective and artistic instincts. I bring production direction, arrangement, musicianship and an outside creative ear. We will make key decisions together, while I take responsibility for translating that direction into the finished record.
Most artists come to me with written songs and some form of demo, ranging from a live voice-and-instrument recording to an established session. The demo does not need to sound polished, but the songwriting and intention should be developed enough for us to begin shaping the production.
Yes. If you have performances, stems or sessions that remain important to the project, I can assess what should be preserved, developed or re-recorded so the finished production feels cohesive.
Yes. I work with artists both in Melbourne and remotely. The exact process depends on what needs to be recorded and how involved you would like to be during production.
My work centres on indie folk, alternative folk and adjacent forms of alt-pop. I am particularly suited to music where lyrics, organic instrumentation, unusual textures and emotional detail matter more than following a rigid genre formula.
